Islamic Agroecology is a hub for those interested in the connection of the heavens and the earth.
There are several compelling reasons for Muslim agricultural practitioners to take action in the face of modern agriculture induced environmental and ethical degradation:
– the role that ecological agriculture can take to positively contribute to healing of earth and the souls
– the gateway that ecological agriculture provides to Allah’s creation
– the immense Yemeni and Andalusian Islamic ecological agricultural heritage that needs to be revived
– the need for a model of professional/theme-based faith association connecting the earth and the Heaven
– The need for practitioners to embed their faith in their daily life practice
Retreats and other events
– Technical/spiritual training of agricultural practitioners. These trainings will mostly be on a certain farm where ecological practices are already being practiced. The program will vary with space and time but there will always be emphasis on alternative perspective of observing natural interactions and nutrient cycling, emphasizing Allah’s artistry and Mizan (balance) in the natural order
– Retreats for non-professionals: Retreats will be organized for people who are interested in food production and consumption from an agroecological perspective.
